Aroma, aroma, what are you?

Hello there! Before I get started on today’s read for you (and write for me), let me say welcome to the first beauty article in honor of March Beauty Month. And, of course, let me tell you what that is. Throughout this whole month, I will be posting a lot of articles covering only beauty topics – about perfumes, lipsticks/lipglosses and nail polishes of some of my favorite brands. So, be prepared to look and feel even better about yourself in April (after all you’ll have read plenty to ensure that happens), just for the dawn of the spring season! Finally.

Today, the topic is Perfumes part I. I will present to you three perfumes that I love for different occasions and moods! I will also “dissect” them so that we can examine what they consist of and how the ingredients make the perfume!

Feel free to let me know if you have tried any of them and which one is your favorite!

  1. La Vie Est Belle by Lancôme

Ingredients: Iris, patchouli, gourmand

Iris: Powdery starchy note with a nuance of boiled carrot and earth.

Patchouli:  It’s an exotic bush that grows mainly in India, the leaves of which produce the essential oil of patchouli. Sweet, dark, with an earthy, woody edge, it is very popular in many blends, especially the contemporary woody floral musks.

Gourmand: It can consist of notes like honey, chocolate, vanilla, which will be sure to draw a lot of people to you!

Perfect for a mood, in which you want to feel girly and sweet. Plus, you will be sure to turn heads!

  1. Si by Giorgio Armani

Ingredients: Bergamot, mandarin, blackcurrant liqueur, rose de mai, neroli, Egyptian jasmine, freesia, patchouli, woods, amber, vanilla

Bergamot: Citrusy, bitter and sour, elegant light note, complex with nuances of fruit and aromatic elements.

Mandarin: Very sweet, succulent, juicy, honeyed facet.

Blackcurrant: This one’s picture is self-explanatory. Mm!

Rose de mai: Delicate scent. Look at it…

Neroli: Citrusy, light, slightly bitter, hints of orange and honey blossom floral facets, purifying, aromatic, romantic.

Jasmine: Sweet, floral narcotic scent.

Freesia: Intensely refreshing and peppery flower with green nuance, synthetically recreated to give sheen and freshness to perfumes.

Amber: Sweet, cozy and warm, often rather powdery note recreated from a mix of balsams. The default oriental note.

Best used for evenings and special occasions, even though if you love it as much as I do, you might use it everyday!

Vanilla: Sweet, cozy, comforting, with a pleasing cookie-baking feeling to it.

  1. Gucci Bamboo

Ingredients: Sandalwood, Tahitian vanilla, grey amber, casablanca lily, orange blossom and delicate ylang ylang

Sandalwood: The classic oriental woody note, milky, soft, with a green top note and a satisfying lingering scent.

Lily:  spicy note which can become intoxicating with aspects of brine and sweet floralcy

Orange blossom: fresh and sweetish floral note

Ylang ylang: rich, floral, banana-toned, jasmine nuances, sweet and narcotic, aphrodisiac and erotic.

Soft, fresh and spicy at the same time, you can count on that one for any occasion!
